BLESS
One of the elements of being an organization who strive to think more theologically about our favorite past-time is to invoke God’s blessing upon our efforts. As humans who belong to a greater order of all living things, we desire to rightly order ourselves within that and have grateful hearts for the harvest. Below are some blessings we have written to aid in our spiritual pursuit of giving thanks. You are welcome to utilize these prayers as you see fit, either privately or with your group.
A Blessing for Fishers
God of abundance, the force of all creation, Father of all; we praise you for calling us up and making, for us, everything we would need. Scripture reveals to us that, You made the heaven and earth, the seas and all that is in them. You give justice to those who are oppressed, and food to those who hunger.
Look with favor upon these fishers and their families, as they seek to connect with you, in creation, and provide protein from the abundance of your creation to their families, loved ones, and neighbors. We pray that you will open up the abundance of your creation for this sacred harvest that the food these creatures provide will bring about a more just world, a more grateful community, and more thankful hearts. And the blessing of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be upon you and remain with your always. Amen.
A Blessing for Hunters
